Post-mortem examinations performed on the bodies of the two security guards that were murdered on their jobs, confirmed what had been earlier reported that both men were severely beaten.
According to Government pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh, 54-year-old Kenneth Vaughn, (not Ivan Phillips as was earlier reported), of Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge, died of brain haemorrhage and a fractured skull.
Singh also reported that Cecil Hamilton, 74, of 15 Public Road, Soesdyke, died as a result of compound injuries to the head, chest and neck.
Last Saturday the body of Hamilton was found battered with both his hands and feet bound and cloth stuffed into his mouth at the Soesdyke Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) where he worked.
The grillwork protecting a window to one of the offices was cut apart and an employee confirmed that a computer and a safe were stolen. However, the employee could not say if and how much money or valuables were in the stolen safe.
Hamilton’s body was discovered by a villager who was on her way to work.
A day after Hamilton’s body was discovered, Vaughn’s body was found in a pool of blood at Le Premier Academy at North Road and Alexander Street, where he too worked as a security guard.
