A man who was allegedly caught by a police patrol with a windscreen and car battery in his possession was granted bail yesterday when he made his court appearance.
Richard Edwards, of 121 Lamaha Street, was granted bail by Priya Beharry on a charge of simple larceny.
It is alleged that between November 19 and November 20 Edwards stole one pickup windscreen and a battery, property of Rudy Matura. Edwards who was unrepresented pleaded not guilty. Police prosecutor Stephen Telford told the court that on the day in question members of the Campbellville police on patrol saw the accused carrying the articles.
Telford added that the patrol stopped and questioned Edwards who could not account for the articles.
Telford said that the accused was arrested and taken to the Station where Matura identified the articles which she reported earlier that day missing and as a result the accused was charged. Telford who had no objections to bail asked for substantial bail granted to the accused.
The magistrate placed Edwards on $100,000 bail and ordered him to return to court on December 1.
