As Genesis Fitness Express moves to TSC building
By Sean Devers
The recently opened Genesis Fitness Express gym which was launched 3 months ago with Sunday exercise sessions at the National Gymnasium, has moved to the refurbished Transport Sports Club (TSC) Pavilion on Thomas lands and the Gym’s CEO Noshavyah King says that National cricketers can benefit from reduced rates for training as they prepare for next year’s regional first-class tournament.
From one class per week, the Gym, manned by five fully qualified instructors, now offers five classes per week and specializes in Yoga, Kick Boxing, Belly Dancing, Dance Aerobics, Step classes and 2 abdominal sessions per day.
“We place a lot of emphasis on having qualified persons working with our clients since getting different types of people fit is serious business since we are dealing with people’s health and if people are not properly trained they could pick up injuries. We cater for the elite athlete to the senior citizen who wants to stay healthy through exercise,” Noshavyah, the wife of former West Indies fast bowler Reon King, explained.
The young lady, who is herself a qualified personal trainer and aerobics instructor, is the Gym’s programme Director and disclosed that classes are also available for pregnant women adding that mothers who attend sessions can bring their children with them since a day care for children (over 6 months old) of members is available while they workout.
Registration can be done at the TSC between 06:00hrs and 08:30hrs and 16:00hrs and 19:30hrs during each weekday or by calling telephone numbers 216-1834, 216-0899 or 609-2765 and persons desirous of joining are asked to do so early since spaces are limited.
A monthly fee of $3,000 is charged and Noshavyah revealed that USA Aerobics and dance instructor Hadassar, Tai chi Instructor and martial Arts and Yogo training knowledgeable Christopher Norville, works along with Nutritionist Kezqweyah and Aerobics, Belly Dance and Kick Boxing Instructor, Booreyaa are all committed to providing international standard service for every member.
The Gym’s CEO said that players like former Guyana 20/20 wicketkeeper Tyrell Tull, who is engaged in an extensive training programme to lose weight, but still remain strong enough to actively participate in daily cricket sessions, are being encouraged to utilize the Genesis Fitness Express Gym and it is hoped that other local sporting associations can register to join the Gym as they prepare to make Guyana proud in their respective sports.
