Tourney open as Mayor’s birthday football continues Wednesday

Football buffs continue to be entertained with the quality of matches witnessed as the tournament organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mayor Hamilton Green continues at the Tucville Ground.
The action continues this Wednesday with six exciting matches. In the first encounter, Camptown take on Black Pearl while Uitvlugt and Agricola face off in another encounter. Seawall FC then oppose Majestics while Alpha match skills with Santos. Victoria Kings then challenge Young Achievers and Pele and Crane bring the curtains down on the evening in the last match.
Meanwhile, Pele has 6 points to lead the points standing in Group A while Crane is close behind on 4 points, Flamingo lead Group B with an unassailable 9 points after winning all three of their games.
Meanwhile, Uitvlugt and Agricola are on 4 points each. These two teams clash on Wednesday and the winner would then assume the second place spot in this group. YMCA has compiled 5 points and assume the lead in Group C.
Despite this, its position is not yet assured as two other teams, Western Tigers and Grove Hi tech both have 4 points each.
These two teams meet on Wednesday and should they play to a draw then the situation will develop into an interesting one and goal difference will have to decide this position.
In the meantime, Conquerors with 6 points lead Group D and will oppose Kitty Rangers who has 4 points. The winner of this match would subsequently assume the lead in this group.
With the competition so intricately poised, almost any team could cart off the honours. Fans would not want to miss any of the remaining matches. The next playing day is Friday at the same venue.
