Upsetters XI defeated Show Stoppers by 30 runs when play in the Banks Power Stout Tapeball Cricket League continued under floodlights Wednesday evening last.
Upsetters XI called correctly ant opted to bat. Ameer Azeez lashed a quickfire 36 to help his team compile 58-1 in 6 overs. In reply Show Stoppers could only muster 28 runs while losing 6 wickets in the process. Budan Baskh (2-2 from 2 overs) was the pick of the bowlers.
Newtown All Stars XI then defeated Craig XI by 37 runs after the winning team elected to take first strike. They eventually scored 82-4 in their allotted 6 overs. Avi Singh (31) scored the most runs. In reply, Craig XI could only muster 55 while conceding 3 wickets. Ron Singh hit an unbeaten 23.
In other matches, Strathspey XI edged past Vipers XI by 2 runs while Gas XI won from Bengal Tigers XI by 23 runs. Bengal Tigers XI won the toss and batted scoring 65-1 in six overs. Kemy Persaud (42) top scored in a losing cause. In reply Gas XI cruised to 69-3 in their six overs Anand Persaud (33) was the best batsman for the winners while Anthony Ifill shone with the ball. He took 3-8 from 2 overs. Play in the tournament continues tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday.

Players are also reminded that they are not permitted onto the field with short pants. The tournament is sponsored by Banks DIH Ltd under the Power Stout label, Guyana National Shipping Corporation, Giftland Office Max, Rays Auto Spares and Trophy Stall and organized by the Guyana Tapeball League, in association with the Guyana Softball League.
