St Angela’s Primary School is the new champion of the Seerja Construction Company-sponsored Primary Schools Girls Windball Cricket Competition which ended last Thursday, at the Carifesta Sports Complex.
The championships organised by AL Sport & Tour Promotions saw St. Angela’s defeat Montrose by eight wickets in the final.
Scores: Montrose batted first and compiled 35-6 off the allotted 4 overs with Player of the final Cherryann Fraser and Yeisha Benjamin each picking up two wickets.
In reply, St. Angela’s knocked off the required runs for no loss, ending on 36-0.
Maria Lyttle 12 and Fraser 9 were the top-scorers.
In semi-final play: Montrose beat Leonora by 23 runs.
Batting first Montrose made 49-0 with Shabanna Hannif contributing 33 not out.
In their turn at the crease, Leonora could only muster 26-3 when the overs expired.In earlier results: St. Angela’s cruised past Monar Educational Institute (MEI) by eight wickets.
MEI made 34-0 with Player of the Tournament Precious Toppin hitting 9.
St Angela’s replied with 40-0. Yeshia Benjamin 26.
Montrose beat Comenius by seven wickets.
Comenius 30-2. Montrose 31-1. Anneisha Boodho 13.
Leonora defeated McGillvry by 14 runs.
Leonora 52-1, Sherne Kertious 16. Mc Gillivary 38-3.
In Boys quarter-final action:
Mon Repos beat Montrose by 3 runs.
Mon Repos totalled 62-1. Jaswant Muntall made 17 and Justin Ross 13.
Montrose 59-1. Reyaz Mohamed 20, Christopher Chappel 14.
Leonora eased past Comenius by eight wickets.
Comenius 40-4, Timmeon Spencer 16. Hasser Hamid 4-8.
Leonora 43-0, Ronaldo Persaud 27.
Grove beat McGillvry by 21 runs.
Grove 78-1, Joel Dick 43, Dexroy Williams 11.
Mc Gillivary 57-6, Delon Souvenir 18, Komal Lall Singh 13. Malcolm London 2-7.
MEI crushed St. Ambrose by eight wickets.
St Ambrose 39-7, Dequan Bamfield 2-6, Zian Gray 2-9.
