Half centuries from Tulsieram Ramadeen, Nokta Moses, Anthony Osborne and Navishaul Pooran highlighted the fifth and final preliminary round of the Busta 40 overs cricket competition played on Sunday last in Wakenaam.
At Zeelandia, Sans Souci Jaguars defeated Maria’s Pleasure by 111 runs.
The Jaguars batted first and scored 235-8 off 40 overs. Tulsieram Ramadeen top scored with 67, (7×4, 1×6) while Nokta Moses made 55 (5×4, 3×6), Olwin Paton 24 and Javed Khan 23.
Medium pacer Bernard Lewis grabbed 4-46. Maria’s Pleasure in reply were bowled out for 124 in 22 overs. Emanuel Lewis led with 27, Leonard Lewis chipped in with 24 and Kennard Lewis 19.
Pacer Paton bagged 4-24, left arm spinner Moin Khan 2-22, Javed 2-30 and Tamesh Charritar 2-10 for the winners.
At Noitgedacht, the host went down to Zeelandia by six wickets. Noitgedacht took first strike and mustered 216-8 after the game was reduced to 35 overs due to a late start caused by excessive preparation moisture on the pitch. Anthony Osborne was their leading run getter with 65 (4×6, 3×4). He was supported by Imran Mohamed Hassan 41 and Mark Petice 22 as Nandcoomar Boodram took 3-21 and Navishaul Pooran 2-30. Zeelandia replied with 217-4 off 27 overs. Navishaul Pooran made 59 (5×6, 2×4) while Ricardo Adams blasted 53 (6×6), Ajay Ghansam 41 and Gowkarran Pooran 31. Hassan grabbed 2-28 for Noitgedacht.
And over at the Wakenaam Community Center ground, Good Success got the better of Sans Souci by 5 wickets. Sans Souci won the toss and batted first on track which kept low at times and were bundled out for a paltry 60 in 26 overs. Roopnarine Persaud was the only batsman that offered any resistance with 22, Nazeer Mohamed bagged 4-6 and left arm spinner Imran 3-10. Good Success in reply encountered a few nervous moments before they won the match in 13 overs ending on 64-5.
Komal Persaud made 18 with off spinner Vickram Ramnarine picked up 4-15 for Sans Souci.
Meanwhile, Good Success, Sans Souci, Zeelandia and Sans Souci Jaguars have qualified for semi finals.
Top of the points table Good Success, the only unbeaten team so far in the competition will clash with fourth placed Sans Souci Jaguars while second placed Sans Souci will do battle with Zeelandia who are third on the points table. The dates will be decided shortly.
