Shastri Persaud became the third centurion of this year’s New Building Society Second Division 40-over cricket competition when he slammed 101 n.o for Chesney in their match against Fyrish Road.
After Fyrish Road were bowled out for 126, Chesney lost their first wicket with just 2 runs on the board.
Persaud then joined the other opener Rajkumar Budhram and with Persaud in attacking mode they put on 120 between them in just 17 overs before Budhram fell for 22.
Chesney eventually closed at 130-2 in just 18.4 overs. Persaud’s knock included 6 fours and 10 sixes and was made off 54 balls.
Paradise’s former Berbice pacer Nigel Wilson took 5-22 to help his team bowl out the 2008’s finalist Hopetown United for 95, but when Paradise took to the crease they ran into Hopetown opening pacer Royden Goodridge who proceeded to take 7 wickets for 20 runs from 7 overs which contributed tremendously to them being bowled out for 47 when they batted.
After Tain had posted 243-9 off their allotted 35 overs against Tain Block Four with Rudrunauth Lauchman scoring 58, their medium pacer Mahendra Maynard then took 7-35 from 7 overs to bowl out Tain for just 96 in their response.
Shimron Hetmyer scored 75, Rudolph Baker 59 and former Berbice all rounder Anil Beharry 55 (his second half century in consecutive matches) to help Young Warriors amass 292-8 in 40 overs, Warriors went on to win by 233 runs.
Former Guyana under-15 batsman Keno Gravesande hit 78 which together with 52 from Wayne Fraser saw Rainbow Generation reaching 264-8 in 40 overs against Bush Lot Sports Complex who were bowled out for 121 in reply with Fraser coming back with the ball to take 2-14.
Other good all rounder performances came from Laikraj Chetram of Woodley Park Young Strikers (66 & 3-21), Satesh Dwarka of Tamran Root (58 & 3-15) and Kurt Sinclair of Weroni Volcano (56 & 2-15). Other batsman scoring half centuries were Alvin Gobin of Tamran Root, Gautam Jallim of Johns and Narvin Ramnauth of Bath Aditya.

At Cumberland, Young Warriors beat Defenders by 233 runs. Young Warriors 292-8 in 40 overs – Shimron Hetmyer 75, Rudolph Baker 59, Anil Beharry 55, Shazad Khan 36, Royden Grant 4-43. Defenders 59 in 20.3 overs – Quacy Parris 3-31, Charran Singh 2-8, Ameer Rahaman 2-16.

At Woodley Park, Woodley Park Young Strickers beat Bath Development Centre by 24 runs. Woodley Park Young Strikers 152 in 23 overs – Laikraj Chaitram 66, Mahesh Persaud 47. Bath Development Centre 128 in 21.3 overs – Laikraj Chaitram 3-21.
At Albion Front, Tamran Root beat Albion Front Shockers by 218 runs Tamran Root 301-8 in 40 overs – Satesh Dwarka 58, Alvin Gobin 52, Avinash Looknauth 37, Ram Ramsammi 26, Leon Matadin 2-23. Albion Front Shockers 83 in 20.5 overs – Ram Ramsammi 5-5, Satesh Dwarka 3-15.
