The licensed firearm holder who was taken into custody on Sunday last after he shot and killed a man in his yard has been released.
However sources close to the investigation have indicated that the police are now seeking legal advice on the matter.
The man was released from police custody late Monday evening.
Early Sunday morning, a man was rushed to the Skeldon Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He was shot and killed after he was caught in a yard at Number 70 Village, Corentyne.
Around 02:00 hours on Sunday, the shooter, who is a licensed firearm holder, was awakened by a noise in his yard. On venturing out he noticed a shadow near his chicken pen.
The man then went for his weapon and discharged a round in the direction of the shadow. It was later discovered that the man was shot.
The wounded individual was later identified as 36-year-old Naresh Persaud.
Persaud was no stranger to the area and was said to be of unsound mind.
