The Ministry of Culture Youth & Sport / National Sports Commission Annual Christmas Term Indoor Windball Cricket Championship got off to a bright start, at the National Gymnasium today with Director of Sport Neil Kumar declaring the 9-a-side 6 overs competition open.
In results of the matches played:-
Zeeburg defeated Kawall by eight wickets.
Kawall made 81-3. Shankar Persaud 27, Ameer Juman 19, Safraz Shakur 12.
Zeeburg making their return to the sport replied with 86-0. Deon Deonauth 47, Khanharya Ramka 36.
L’Aventure beat Monar Educational Institute by eight wickets.
Monar Educational Institute of West Coast Demerara reached 52-6. Mark Gonsalves 22 Rajindra Sujmn 2-9, Safraz Esau 2-11
L’Aventure Sec in reply, ended on 53-0. Esau 26.
GITC eased past The Business School by six wickets.
The Business School closed on 50-4. Deion Jerrick 19, Nimesh Persaud 11. Devon Jordan 2-7.
GITC reached 54-1. Richard Williams 33, Jamal Mc Allister 14.
David Rose High upset Central High by eight wickets.
Central High 72-3, Travis Johnson 57 not out.
David Rose 75-0 off 5.2 overs Akeem Williams 51, Dason Jupiter 22.
Carmel beat MEI (Georgetown) by 38 runs.
Carmel High compiled 105-1. Garfield Moore hit 44 not out, Gavon Charles 22, Mark Rigby 12.
MEI (G/town) 67-7. Selwyn Williams 24, Donrick Rodney 16. Mark Rigby 3-5, Brian Holmes 2-8, Gavin Charles 2-10.
Annandale defeated North Ruimveldt by 30 runs.
Annandale totalled 99-6. Stephen Khan 26, Pratakar Rudolph 22. Deron Crandon 2-13. North Ruimveldt Multilateral in reply was restricted to 69-5 with Alcee Joseph hitting a top-score of 25, while Dillon Thornton made19 and Stefan Daniels 16 supported admirably. M Bhola 2-7.
Covent Garden beat L’Aventure by 31 runs.
Covent Garden Sec 135-0 Shameer Fazil 81, Mark Anthony 45. L’Aventure Sec 104-4, Travis Cato 40, Tamish Jajaogovish 18, Dain Paul 13 S Fazil 2-5. Play continues today from 9:55am.
