The 2009 Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Under-17 two-innings Club Cricket Competition continued recently with Young Star of No. 70 becoming the latest team to reach the quarter-finals of the competition after defeating Crabwood Creek outright to end up as winners of Zone G.
They had mainly to thank off spinner Tameshwar Kumar who took 7 for 14 and 6 for 20 to bowl out Crabwood Creek for 65 and 50 allowing his team to win by 8 wickets after conceding first innings points. His match figures of 13 for 34 are the best in the competition so far surpassing Woodley Park Young Strykers Navindra Gossai’s 13 for 61 against Bath Aditya in the first round.
After Tucber Park ‘B’ bowled out Edinburgh for 84 in their first innings opening batsman Randolph Davis Jnr scored 62 not out to see Tucber Park through to 146 for 5 at the end of the match. Off spinner Navindra Mohan’s 9 wicket haul and scores of 34 and 30 failed to save Crabwood Creek Rising from losing outright to No. 68.
