The Ministry of Education launched four testing sites yesterday for National Week of Testing, which will be held in Regions Three and Five, as well as in Georgetown.
The Georgetown testing sites are located at the 26 Brickdam office of the Ministry of Education and the Guyana Technical Institute (GTI). The Testing Site in Region Three can be found at the Learning Resource Centre, and the Region Five facility at the Fort Wellington Regional Office.
The aim of the exercise is to target employees of the Ministry, as well as the general public and students who may be sexually active.
Minister of Education, Dr. Desrey Fox, launched the testing sites by being the first person to be tested at the Ministry of Education building on Brickdam.
The Minister said that the Ministry is aiming at a total of 1,500 persons for the week between the four testing sites. Dr. Fox said that as a leader in the society, she should set an example for the citizens.
“It is one thing to talk about change in society,” said the Education Minister, adding that the leaders of the society must live by example.
The testing site at the Ministry building will be set up until today, while the GTI testing sites will be set up from Wednesday to Friday of this week. Testing Sites in Region Three will be set up on Wednesday, and Region Five will have its facility set up on Thursday.
