The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport recently donated a number of boxing gloves to the Mahdia Community.
The gear will be used to engage youths in the area in aspects of the fistic sport. Region Eight Regional Executive Officer Ishwar Dass disclosed that a site has been earmarked for the creation of a gym.
Mahdia businessman Roger Hinds has, in the interim, undertaken to assist in getting coaches to the Region to train youths in the area in the finer aspects of the sport.
Parliamentary Secretary within the Sports ministry, Steve Ninvalle, who visited there recently, handed over the equipment to the REO.
In the first quarter of this year the Ministry had presented boots, head and mouth guards and speed balls to Mahdia as they looked to establish a boxing gym in the community.
