…murder suspected
The police are investigating the apparent murder of Ram Kanaya, 42 years of No.78 Village, Corriverton, Berbice.
Kanaya’s body was found at about 11:00 hours yesterday in a septic tank at Grant 1806, Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, with suspected marks of violence to the chest.
Kaieteur News understands that Kanaya was reported missing four days ago by a friend.
According to reports, persons going into the Corentyne backlands were hit by a strong stench, which they suspected was coming from a dead animal.
The police were contacted and the partly decomposed body was pulled from the septic tank.
A source in Berbice told this newspaper that the property that housed the septic tank was unoccupied at the time and is owned by a Suriname based Guyanese woman.
No one has been arrested so far.
The body is at the Skeldon Hospital Mortuary awaiting a Post Mortem Examination.
