‘Terror’ probe…
Police have released 22-year-old Albouystown resident, Muammar Jabbar, whom they were questioning in connection with the recent ‘terror’ attacks at two police stations and other public buildings.
Jabbar’s father said that police had asked his son about the whereabouts of someone named ‘General.’
He said that his son told the police that he did not know the individual.
‘General’ is the alias of 48-year-old Keith Ferrier of South Ruimveldt, one of the men that police are linking to domestic terrorism.
Ferrier was also charged for the firebombing of the Ministry of Health building in Brickdam. He was subsequently granted bail.
Mr. Jabbar confirmed that his son is a close friend of Charles Clarke, who along with six others, is wanted for arson, robbery and murder.
Clarke’s relatives insist that the man has been overseas for several months.
Police had reportedly told Jabbar’s father that they were investigating reports that his son was in touch with a fugitive and was also harbouring the individual. They had also checked the numbers in his son’s mobile phone.
Jabbar, a sailor, was taken into custody on Thursday while he was at his girlfriend’s home in Albouystown.
