On Friday evening Guyana, through Ansa McAl has now joined 70 other countries worldwide to stock Riunite Italian wine on supermarket shelves.
Known for Carib Beer, the company officially entered the wine market to cater to the more sophisticated drinkers and those who enjoy the finer things of life.
Under the theme ‘Salud’ a selected few, numbering about 300 representing various sections of society, gathered at the Georgetown Club for the official launch via an elegant evening of wine and beverage sampling.
Troy Cadogan, Ansa McAl’s Marketing Director, at the launching said, “We are launching this brand in time for the festive season so that wine lovers and perspective wine tasters will have an additional choice of quality international wine on the local shores and in their wine bar.
“But it’s a wine that’s here to stay for every occasion be it simple wine, dine and conversation, relaxing or socialising.”
Giovanni Cardulla, who represented the brand, said that the wine is exported from Italy and can be enjoyed dry, semi-dry, and full bodied as is already being done in Trinidad for about 15 years. The brand first came to be through an initiative of fifteen farmers in 1950 and is among the more distributed wines worldwide.

Cadogan said that it comes to Guyana to add to the wine tasters and drinkers choice list offerings. The wine, he added is something new on the local supermarket shelves for the festive season and beyond.
“This red one is divine,” said one popular politician with much agreement from others in his clique.
