Following brief lull in activities Mayor’s Birthday football tournament resumes

The football tournament organized by former national football coach, Lennox Arthur to commemorate the 75th birth anniversary of Mayor Hamilton Green had hit a temporary snag forcing the organizers to temporarily halt the proceedings.
The issue has since been resolved and the tournament continues next Wednesday, November 18 with several exciting matches. However, there has been a change of venue and from the Banks DIH, Thirst Park facility matches are now slated for the Tucville ground.
According to Arthur, there were several issues that needed to be sorted out and as such he was forced to put the tournament on hold. He said that before this decision was taken football buffs were treated to top class football action in earlier matches. He has since promised that this trend would continue.
Several mouth watering matches are billed for Wednesday and include GFC against Rich Boys, Santos up against Young Achievers, Uprising against Stewartville and Black Pearl against Seawall. The other three matches that night feature Riddim Squad opposing the Brazilians, GDF versus Golden Grove while Camptown play Majestic’s with Alpha Utd tackle Victoria Kings to round off an exciting evening.
Meanwhile, several teams are bunched on three points apiece and include Crane, Kitty Rangers, Grove Hi Tec, Conquerors, GFC, Uprising, Riddim Squad, Alpha Utd, Seawall, Pele, Flamingo, Black Pearl and Victoria Kings.
Anthony Sancho leads the way for the player scoring the most goals (3) while several other footballers are bunched together at 2 goals each.
