Chief Executive Officer of Digicel Guyana, Gregory Dean will tee off the two-day Digicel Classic Golf tournament today at the Lusignan Golf Club at 09:00 hours.
Over 60 players are now registered for the tournament and according to Jerome Khan, Captain of the Lusignan Golf Club the officials were forced to change the starting time from 12:00 hours.
At least 12 overseas players who have arrived for the Guyana Open championships slated for next weekend will be participating in addition to a large field of local golfers.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three players with the best net scores over the two days and the best ladies player.
There will also be prizes on both days for the best net, lowest gross and Nearest to the Pin.
Play is also likely to start at 09:00 hours on Sunday to facilitate a special golf novelty event by Digicel staff.
According to Digicel Business Development Manager Gavin Hope several senior officials of the company will join junior staff in the golf event.
They include CEO Dean, Marketing Director Donovan Whyte, Finance Director Kevin Kelly, Head of Customer Care Jacqueline James, Head of Sales and Distribution Nalini Vieira and Sales Manager Dwayne Scott.
