An early morning accident has left a twelve year old boy fighting for his life.
Up to press time, 12-year-old Timothy Cummings, of lot 183 Third Street, Craig, East Bank Demerara , was a patient in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital. He was rushed to the institution in an unconscious state after he was struck down by a pick-up. Reports reaching this newspaper indicate that the child was standing at a bus shed when he attempted to cross the road. The driver of the vehicle, according to eyewitnesses, attempted to overtake another vehicle and struck the child down in the process.
The accident happened 08:30hrs yesterday.
Cummings was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre for treatment, but was transferred because of the severity of his injuries.
The boy was initially taken to a private institution for a CT scan. According to hospital sources, the lad received head injuries.
