On Tuesday, detectives attached to the Anna Regina Police Station, responding to a call, rushed to a canal to find the body of a man floating there.
It turned out that it was the body of 39- year-old Yudhanayu Dasrath, a labourer. The identification was made by his relatives of 130 James Street, Anna Regina.
According to his wife, Gomattie Resally, her husband had left his James Street residence, minutes after 5:00 pm on Monday to visit a friend in the same village.
The woman said that it was quite normal for her husband who was considered to be an alcoholic to leave the home, without returning sometimes.
Dasrath’s mother, 69-year-old Cancharrie Dasrath, screamed ‘Oh God tek me life and left he’ when she saw the body.
Dasrath’s body was taken to the Oscar Joseph Hospital at Charity for a post mortem examination.
According to the police there were no marks of violence on the man’s body.
Dasrath was to have been cremated yesterday.
