Farmer’s body fished out of Pomeroon River

Villagers of the Burnt Bush Profit community on Sunday fished the lifeless body of 68- year-old Harry Lall of the Lower Pomeroon River, minutes after they discovered him missing.
Lall, a ground provision farmer of the area, left his home earlier that day for Charity, some two miles down river, to sell cassava at the market.
According to reports reaching Kaieteur News, the elderly man was last seen paddling back to Burnt Bush Profit around 16:30 hrs and all seemed normal.
Later that afternoon, villagers in the area saw Lall’s empty paddleboat, drifting a short distance from his home. An alarm was raised, family members were notified and a search party was formed.
Minutes after the discovery of the empty paddle boat, the elderly man’s hat was seen floating along the river not far from where the boat was discovered.
Around 17:30 hrs, an hour after the farmer’s boat was discovered, members of the search party spotted the missing man’s body floating at the edge of the Pomeroon River, a short distance from his home. The search party used hooks to fish Lall’s body out of the river; he was clad in brown pants and a blue shorts.
Kaieteur News understands that the man can swim, and that no marks of violence have been observed on his body so far.
Lall’s body was taken to the Charity Hospital Mortuary.
He leaves to mourn his wife and five children.
