The 2009 New Building Society Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board for teams in the Ancient County continued recently with Shieldstown’s No. 4 batsman Andrew Joynath slamming the first century of the competition when he scored 131 N.O (14 fours and 8 sixes) which was the backbone of his team’s 237 for 7 in 30 Overs against No. 2 Village who could reply with 175 all out in 26 Overs with Parmanand Persaud scoring 65.
With Hemraj Mankarran hitting 78 and Tamesh Ramessar 61, Kennard’s Memorial managed to score 193 in 30. 3 Overs against Kildonan who were then bowled out for a paltry 49 in reply compliments of a destructive spell from medium pacer Roopnarine Ramlall who in 6 Overs took 5 for 13 backed up by 3 for 17 from left arm spinner Ramessar, rounding a good allround performance.
Also scoring half centuries were Vijay Ramsaroop of Sand Reef, Rajkumar Budhram of Chesney, former Berbice wicketkeeper batsman Kwasie Mentore of
Hopetown United, Jaipaul Heeralall of De Edward, Jamael Assad of No. 70 M.Y.O and Godfrey Frederick of Defenders.
