Conquerors maul GFC, Camptown, Riddim Squad, Santos, Pele, Uprising also win
The 2009 DeSinco Trading Under-19 football tournament organised by the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) kicked off on Saturday last with Fruta Conquerors’ 10-1 mauling of Georgetown Football Club being the highlight of the opening day’s play.
Enjoying home advantage, Conquerors dominated the young Bourda Blues from start to finish as they found the back of the nets regularly.
Leading the goal party was the menacing Manasseh Primo who banged in a helmet-trick. Primo, who also leads the club’s challenge at the Premier League level found the nets in the 16th, 21st, 27th and 46th minute. Pernell Schultz (49 & 63) and Keifer Adams (62 & 66) netted a double each while there was one each for Eon Alleyne (30) and Travis Savory who opened the flood gates in the 6th minute.
GFC’s lone response came off the boot of Rory Lewis in the 60th minute.
At the same venue, Uprising fought back twice to edge Black Pearl 3-2. For the winners, the players on target were Keson Dey in the 9th, Devon Charles 30th and Lloyd Bascom in the 50th minute. Black Pearl’s goals were scored by Jason Jack (8) and Rodwick Hamilton (12).
Pele took full points from Alpha United who failed to make an appearance.
Over at the Camptown ground, the home team Sunburst Camptown needled Flamingo compliments of a Jahal Greaves 32nd minute effort.
Riddim Squad pounded their way to a 5-2 win over Northern Rangers.
Amos Ramsay netted a hat-trick for the winners with strikes in the 40th, 42nd and 58th minute. Dorville Stewart touched in the other two in the 28th and 70th. Northern Rangers hit the network through efforts from Mark Trotman (48) and Anthony Denny (53).
Santos won by walk over from BK International Western Tigers.
