Two persons have been arrested for the robbery at Gizmos and Gadgets Auto Zone on Regent Street last Tuesday.
According to a police press release, following rigorous investigations, a man, who has since been identified as Terrence Greene, and a woman, were arrested between Thursday night and Friday morning.

But Greene’s relatives tell of a beating. On Thursday they searched for their relative after learning that he had been arrested.
At the Grove Police Station they learnt that the ranks there refused to accept him because of his physical condition. He had been beaten.
Well after midnight they continued their search and failed to locate him. It was not until yesterday that they found him after being told by the Brickdam police of the reason for the arrest and where he might be.
They found him at the Grove Police Station which recanted after the man was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was medically examined and presented with a medical certificate.
Five bandits, among them two women, robbed the store of $126,000 that was in the cashier canister. They also took a number of cell phones, and a range of musical items.
In addition, the store’s cashier, Amelia Khan, had her bag taken. At the time it contained a cell phone worth $80,000 and $10,000 in cash.
Another employee, Kerion Persaud had his wallet containing $5,000 along with his cell phone taken.
On the day of the robbery, a woman visited the store under the pretext of completing a Money Gram transaction that was later found to be false. Amelia Khan who was the cashier at the time was manning the location with sales representative Kerion Persaud. After the smartly dressed woman was turned away for want of proper documentation to complete the transaction that she even filled out a form for, she promised to return.
The woman did return but in the company of the four other bandits, one armed with a screwdriver and another with a handgun. They accosted Khan and beat Persaud before duct taping their hands and mouths and bundling them into the store’s toilet.
It was the third time that Gizmos and Gadgets stores around the city had been robbed. The robbery came at a time when the Guyana Police Force had announced plans to beef up security in main shopping areas to root out such incidents leading up to the Christmas season.
