The Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists recently, over the last weekend, held its Youth Congress under the theme “Pass it on.”
GCSDA’s Youth Congress is a forum that allows the youth population of the Adventist church to meet for fellowship, critical performance reviews, and fun.
This year, approximately 2000 youths and youth leaders from Lethem right on to Orealla participated.
The programme commenced at the Olivet Seventh-day Adventist Church in D’Urban Backlands with a consecration service where the feature of the evening’s programme was delivered by Dr. Hilton Garnet, President of the Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
The following day the National Park was ablaze with energy from in the wake of a Grand Convocation with a number of features with presentations including Pastor Stanton Adams, Executive Secretary of the Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, who presented that day’s feature address.
This was geared at motivating those in attendance to renew their connection with God while rededicating their lives to the service of the Lord.
The following Sunday the Georgetown Cricket Club Ground, Bourda, came alive in a blaze of glory as athletes (many of whom are national champions) represented their districts at the annual athletics and cycling championship.
The main sponsor of this year’s event is the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company which has donated the Championship Trophy and most of the medals awarded.
