Wodette Roberts, whose bound and handcuffed body was found at Dora last Wednesday, succumbed from asphyxiation compounded by compression to the neck.
This was revealed yesterday during a post mortem by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh.
Police had initially said that they suspected that Robbers suffocated Roberts after the gunmen who abducted him and two others tied his mouth and nostrils.
Police said that Wodette Roberts, 23, Sean Embleton, 25, and Roopchand Gopaul, 47, of Kuru Kururu, were stopped and abducted by several gunmen near Loo Creek while travelling in a pickup around 00:15 hrs on Wednesday.
The gunmen were reportedly armed with AK-47s and shotguns and were dressed like policemen while travelling in a white Toyota wagon and a silver-grey car.
The victims were then bound and taken to Dora, while the gunmen made off with the pickup.
Sean Embleton and Roopchand Gopaul reportedly managed to free themselves.
According to police, Embleton went to Roberts and found that he was dead.
The stolen Toyota Tacoma pickup was found on Thursday in a trail off the Soesdyke/Linden highway.
The vehicle was completely burnt, but the owner was able to identify the pickup by the serial number on the engine.
Police found an empty AK-47 assault rifle magazine, seven bullets and a similar number of bullet casings, two bottles containing chick peas (channa) and two spent firecrackers in the torched vehicle.
Police believe that the gunmen used the pickup while attacking the Brickdam Police Station and West Ruimveldt Police Outpost.
