Dear Editor,
The English philosopher, Thomas Hobbs, must have looked down the years and saw Guyana when he was trying to make sense of the ‘nonsense’ in society.
Hobbs, in his writings, saw society as being paralysed with continual fear.
This fear is based on the view that the lives of individuals will be solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short, as a result of violent death.
If anyone studies Hobbs’ writing and take an honest look at what is happening in Guyana today, one would see striking similarities between Hobbs’ model and present day Guyana.
The torturing of that little boy is another declaration of the profligacy in our society and drives more fear in our young people.
How can anyone in their right mind get a proper night’s rest after committing such an appalling act?
Our Caribbean neighbours continue to insult and mock us because of our inability to move forward. When will there be an end to all this madness?
Isn’t there someone, somewhere, who cares? This is not a black or Indian thing. It’s a Guyanese thing. Guyanese all over demand better.
While the Leviathan is roaming God is watching and the people are fed up. Long live Guyana.
