Rice farmer Dineshwar Tameshwar, 46, of No. 56 Village Corentyne Berbice who was shot in the neck by bandits on Monday, is said to be stable at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Tameshwar underwent surgery to remove the bullet from his neck area on Monday.
Vidya Tameshwar, the victim’s daughter, said that they have not yet received any information from the police about the investigation on the robbery which has left her father hospitalized.
She claims that her mother, Yapattie Tameshwar, has not been sleeping since the robbery. She desperately wants to see the assailants brought to justice, she said.
On Saturday, last, three gunmen robbed the Tameshwar’s family of in excess of $1M in cash and jewelry.
The gunmen entered the house and held Tameshwar’s wife, Yapattie, at gunpoint in her kitchen where they relieved her of her cash and jewelry.
They proceeded upstairs where they shot Dineshwar and ransacked the house and took more cash and jewelry before escaping.
Daneshwar was rushed to the Skeldon hospital and subsequently transferred to the GPHC where he was admitted. Dineshwar’s daughter claims that the gunmen knew a lot about the family since they went about doing things that were only known to the family.
