– victim may have been shot
Police are seeking assistance to identify a badly decomposed body of a man that was found at around 14:00 hrs yesterday on a trail off the Soesdyke/Linden highway.
Police said that the copse, believed to be that of a man of African ancestry, appeared to have been attacked by animals and the head was torn off.
There is speculation that the victim was shot, since a warhead and a .45 bullet casing were found near the corpse.
Kaieteur News understands that the victim was clad in a pair of denim jeans and blue underwear.
A pair of Reebok boots was found near the body. Police sources said that a young man who was passing through the area found the remains and contacted the police.
