With a mere five days left to race day, the arrival of Canadian Kevin Graham in Guyana yesterday morning to participate in the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club International Meeting at the South Dakota Circuit has created a great deal of excitement to the big bike category.
Graham, who has undoubtedly been the most dominant performer in that division, interacted with the media during a sponsorship promotion at Continental Agencies Head Office, Industrial Site yesterday.
Sponsored under the Sunburst Orange Juice brand, the Canadian speedster told Kaieteur Sport that he is looking forward to re-igniting his rivalry with locals Stephen Vieira and Maurice Menezes and the other local riders in addition to the rest of the Caribbean best.
“I’m looking forward to the competition, that would be really cool,” the usually reserved speedster, who rides a Yamaha R6, said.
He noted that with the inclusion of the Barbadians and Jamaicans, motor racing fans should be able to witness keen competition, while indicating that he is ready for the challenge.
Barbados will be represented by Arthur Cumberbatch and Brook Miller, while Jamaica’s Stefan Chin and Halquin Rodney carry their quest for top honours. Asked whether he had ever raced against the foreign opposition, Graham replied in the negative, adding that he was probably retired before they came on the scene, but is obviously looking forward to the challenge.
He said he is hoping to get in some amount of track time possibly today and was set to get the bikes tuned and ready for testing.
Graham was optimistic of being ready for Sunday’s showdown against the likes of local champion Vieira, Menezes, Miller and Cumberbatch.
