Dear Editor,
I wish to take issue with one Shane Rizwa whose letter titled “Sad State of Affairs” sought to discredit Miss Wanita Hubern and Seegobin, two of the better voices on NCN radio.
Though he does not call her by her name he refers to the current host of the “Morning Show” who is indeed Wanita.
He describes her as “sickly insipid” a term which should more be applied to the former host Malcom Ferreira whom I found boring , bias and monotonous with a poor sense of humour.
In Days gone by a Malcom Ferreira could have never made it close to a radio microphone.
The “Morning Show” with Wanita is a revelation with witty clips and a smooth mix of music from today and years gone by.
On a scale of 10, I will give Malcom Ferreira a voice rating of 3 and this is being generous, his knowledge of music “across the board” is also questionable.
Shane Rizwa needs a hearing aid, not one for volume, but one to help him to be able to distinguish who are the better voices on radio.
The four best voices on radio currently are the “evergreen” Ron Robinson, Wanita Hubern, Marano Isaacs and Seegobin, they display clarity of diction and infuse their personality whenever they are on air.
Not much can be said for the rest, especially the DJs who seem not to be able to distinguish the singular from the plural.
The problem with NCN radio is that more qualified and more reputable personnel are needed.
There is an urgent need to unearth new voices and inject fresh programming with innovative features.
