National U-19 vice captain Royston Alkins, Rovindra Persaud and Essequibo opener Norman Federicks hit half centuries as the South Essequibo Twenty/20 cricket competition continued last Sunday on the Essequibo Coast. At Suddie, Santos defeated Jaguars by seven wickets. Jaguars batted first and made 91-2 in 20 overs. Ricardo Persaud top scored 22 and Fazal Mohamed 18, as Guyana U-19 left arm spinner Anthony Adams bagged 4-11 and Floyd Henry 2-6. Santos in reply scored 93-3 in 15 overs. Alkins blasted 56 and Keron McLennon 18.
In the second game played at the same venue. Santos overcame El Dorado by 6 wickets. Rovindra Persaud made 55 as El Dorado chalked 119-8 in 20 overs. Randolph Raj and Anthony Adams took two wickets each. Santos responded with 120-4 in 19.4 overs.
Alkins was again their leading run getter with 40 while Keron McLennon supported with an unbeaten 24. Mahindra Raj took 2-16 for El Dorado.
At Golden Fleece, Rising Star got the better of the host by 28 runs. Rising Star took first strike and totalled 160-3 in 20 overs. Norman Federicks slammed 66 while former national U-19 opener Royan Federicks supported with 40. Shivnarine Orilall grabbed 2-19 for Golden Fleece who made 132 all out in 19.3 overs in reply. Deolall Rooplall made 29 not out and Gewan Singh 21 while Deeraj Dindyal picked up 4-15 for Rising Star. The competition continues tomorrow.
