The Castellani Swimming Pool, Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown will once again be transformed into a hive of activity when the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) stages this year’s National Swimming Championships from this Saturday, October 31 – November 7 next.
Activities get underway at 08:00hrs with warm up exercises followed by the 200m Freestyle race. Thereafter, the swimmers would compete for honours in the 50m backstroke, 100/200m individual medley, the 100m breaststroke and the 200m butterfly. The action continues on Sunday, November 1 at 09:00hrs, shortly after the warm-up session concludes at 08:00hrs.
Once again, the swimmers would compete in the 400m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 50m breaststroke, 100m freestyle and the 200m backstroke.
The action continues on Wednesday, November 4 at 06:15hrs with the 1500m freestyle, and then into Friday, with the 800m Freestyle. GASA then brings the curtains down on Saturday November 7 from 09:00hrs with several events including, the 400m Individual Medley, 200m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke and the 50m free style race.
Competitors are reminded that a fee of $200 must be paid for each event for which they register.
Entries for those participating in the October 31 events will be collected up to 8:00am on that date while those participating in events scheduled for November 1 have up to 8:15am on that date to lodge their fees.
Those participating in events scheduled for November 4 and 6 have up to 6:15am on both days to satisfy the monetary requirement. Swimmers competing on November 7 will be required to pay up by 18:00 hrs on Friday, November 6.
Entries will be deemed as not complete until fees are paid.
