Santos secure runners-up spot as both teams gain Premiere League status
Riddim Squad, are the inaugural Western Union Division One football champions in the city and they have achieved the feat with an unbeaten slate and a game in hand. Santos FC has secured the runner up position and they too have a game in hand.
What both teams have in common though, is the fact that they are destined for the Premier League ranks for the 2010 season of the Georgetown Football Association.
In latest Western Union Super Four action played at the Camptown ground, Campbellville on Sunday last, Riddim Squad maintained their successful rhythm with an emphatic 7-0 win over Houston Stars who failed to shine.
Gordon Grant led the goal fest with a hat-trick, hitting the back of the nets in the 5th, 17th and 56th minutes. Sheldon Hope touched in a double (12 & 30) with one apiece for Dellon John in the 35th and Amos Ramsay in the 50th.
Uprising continued their winless streak when they were thumped by Santos 3-0 in the day’s feature match.
Trevor Lewis tucked in a double with strikes in the 6th and 60th with Michael Pedro closing things out in the 70th minute.
The final two matches of the league will be played on Sunday.
