The Lions Club of Georgetown/Stabroek concluded its 7th anniversary celebrations with a special dinner at the New Thriving Restaurant on Saturday night.
The celebrations began at the start of the month, with the distribution of over 600 books, both text and fiction, to various orphanages around the city.
A church service was held after the book distribution, and added to Saturday’s end-of-celebration activities was a breakfast at the Children’s Drop-In Centre.
Among those present at the dinner were members of the Board of Directors and fellow Lions from sister Clubs.
The club also plans to hold a Children’s Christmas Dinner later in the year.
With more than 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas worldwide and more than 1.3 million members, the Lions Club is the world’s largest service club organisation and one of the most effective.
Founded in 1917, the club is best known for its voluntary involvement in many different kinds of community projects including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled.
