Wakenaam defeated Leguan by 99 points to win the Guyana Teachers union, Ministry of Education District 16 Inter Branch Athletics Championship held recently at the Wakenaam Community Centre Ground.
Wakenaam totalled 1,365 points ahead of Leguan who gained 1,226.
Wakenaam’s most successful athletes were Taisha Dazzell 1st – (80M, 400M, long Jump girls U-8). Dwain Retemiah 1st (400M, 1000M boys U-10). Serena Wiggins 1st (100M, 200M, 400M, long jump girls U-10).
Kashif Duncan 1st (100M, 200M long jump, Javelin, boys U-12). Terrence Wallace 1st (100M, 200M boys U-14). Maurice Retemiah 1st (3000M, 1500m boys U-16).
Simon Gordon 1st (100M, Javelin boys U-16). Trevon Melville 1st (High Jump, shot put boys U-16). Alita Moore 1st (100M, 200M, long jump girls U-16).
Terrence Stewart 1st (100M, 200M,400M boys U-20). Stephon Gordon 1st (800M, 1500M boys U-20). Ryan Corlette 1st (high jump, Javelin, shot put boys U-20).
Leguan Outstanding athletes were Dellon Carwyn 1st (80M, 150M, 400M boys U-8).
Keisha Tucker 1st (100M, 200M, 400M long jump , High jump, shot put girls U-12).
Paul Williams 1st (400M, 800M 1500M boys U-14). Christopher McCurdy 1st (high jump, long jump boys U-14). Shameka Neblett 1st (100M, 200M, high jump girls U-14). Melisa Patterson 1st (400M, 1500M, javelin, long jump girls U-14).
Carl Forde 1st (200M, 400M, 800M boys U-16). Niketa Trotz 1st (100M, 200M, long jump high jump girls U-20).
The outstanding athletes will be selected to represent District 16 (E’bo Islands) at national school championship.
