Thieves hit Mahaica gas station

H. Nauth and Sons Service station, at 45-47, Unity/ Mahaica was broken into and robbed of about $500,000 despite a security guard being on duty.
According to the guard’s story, about 5:30hrs yesterday, while exiting the gas station compound he saw some items from the mini-mart on the roadway.
He said that upon investigating further he realised that the place was broken into.
Three window panes at the top of the building were removed and sections of the mart were ransacked.
He immediately contacted management and when they arrived at the scene they discovered that the cash representing Thursday’s earnings and some items were missing.
The police were called and after initial investigations the security guard was taken to the station to offer a statement and was subsequently released while the police are pursuing other suspects.
Sean Rohoman, Operations Manager, said the Service operates from 6:00hrs –to 19:00hrs daily and that the break and entry is mysterious as there was a security guard on duty.
This is not the first time that the Service Station was robbed.  Several years ago the owner Harendra Nauth, was shot and killed during a robbery.
