La Grange Sports Club defeated Western United last Sunday at the La Grange Ground as play continued in the President’s Cup 20/20 Second Division competition in West Demerara.
Having won the toss and electing to bat, La Grange piled up a mammoth 194 for 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Main contributions came from right handed opener Campton Melbourne who clubbed 66 inclusive of 6 sixes. He received support form Pradeep Bodalall who made an accomplished 51.
Earl Deokarran was the pick of the Bowlers for Western United taking three wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs.
Western United in their reply were all out for 132 in 17 overs. This is despite a top score of 67 from their skipper Fenton Persaud. His only support came from Ronald Stanley who chipped in with 23.
In other matches, New Windsor suffered back to back losses to Wales Community Development Centre and Goed Intent at the Wales CDC on Sunday.

Sunday October 25: Meten-Meer-Zorg West Ground – Rising Storm vs Shamrock and Meten-Meer-Zorg West vs Windsor Forest B; Zeeburg Ground – Zeeburg B vs Meten-Meer-Zorg B and Zeeburg B vs Rising Storm; Cornelia Ida Ground – Cornelia Ida vs Windsor Forest and Cornelia Ida vs Meten-Meer-Zorg West; Wales Ground – Evergreen vs Goed Intent and Evergreen vs Wales; Canal # 2 Sports Club Ground – Independence vs Cultural and Cultural vs Mc Gill Superstars
This competition is sponsored by Anand Sanasie, President of the West Demerara Cricket Association and Vice President and Secretary of the Demerara Cricket Board and Guyana Cricket Board respectively. The competition is played in two zones and each zone winner would pocket $50,000.
Meanwhile, the zone finals of the 2009 New Line Aqua Farm Second Division 40-over Final is set to be played in a carnival atmosphere at the Canal # 2 Sports Club.
On October 31, Independence would do battle with All Youths in the Development League while familiar foes Cultural and Canal # 2 Sports Club would lock horns in the Premier League final.
This competition is sponsored by Salim Azeez and would see the winners of the Development and Premier Leagues carting off $50,000 and $100,000 respectively in addition to trophies and individual prizes.
