“Today I stand, for truth, righteousness and justice” were the words of Clive Nurse, Deputy Chief Labour Officer at the Ministry of Labour, after he was admitted to the Bar by Justice Rishi Persuad, recently.
Roysdale Forde, attorney-at-law, petitioned on behalf of Nurse and vouched that the new lawyer is an individual who is truly committed and thoughtful in the execution of his duties.
“After spending a period of time working with Mr. Nurse, he has impressed me greatly. His ability to carry out a task with efficiency and initiative is incomparable” Forde added.
Nurse completed the requirements of being a legal practitioner and is an example of maturity, Justice Persaud said. He added that he is certain that Mr. Nurse will uphold the rich traditions of the noble profession.
“Many come into this profession to attain riches. However don’t be consumed with those endeavours, this profession is much more than that.”
Having done all the hard work at the University of Guyana and Hugh Wooding Law School, Nurse said that he couldn’t afford to celebrate or relax but to keep striving for excellence.
Nurse noted that he always harboured thoughts of being a part of such a prestigious profession. During the early period of high school onwards to Universities he aspired tenaciously towards this goal and always wanted to administer justice to those that were bereft of such.
Nurse dedicated his achievements to his family and friends.
