The results came in positive from a paternity test taken to determine whether Dellon Williams, a Guyanese, fathered the baby of a minor with whom he was accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with in 2008.
This was revealed by Prosecution in Court (2) of the High Court yesterday morning.
Also in a twist, Williams, 30, who is a mason, pleaded guilty to the charge when he was arraigned before Justice Rita Olivetti.
However, his lawyer Stephen Daniels told the court that he has some issues with the facts put forward by the Prosecution; hence they were told to return to court on the October 29, 2009 for a hearing on the matter.
Williams who remains on bail, was previously ordered in the Magistrate’s Court to relocate from his address in Belle Vue and he is currently staying with a co-worker until the matter passes through the court. It is alleged that Williams had unlawful sexual intercourse with the complainant while she was under the age of 16 which resulted in her being pregnant. The young lady is now 16 years old.
It is alleged that Williams invited the complainant, who had been friends with him, to his home some time before or after the April 11, 2008. The complainant went to the man’s home and she was then invited into his bedroom.
It is there the defendant allegedly started kissing the young lady and then proceeded to take off his clothing and the young lady’s. The complainant then started to put up resistance but was unsuccessful as he managed to have sex with her.
The prosecution contended that the young lady did not say anything to her parents. However, some time in October last year her parents noticed that she was not menstruating and on the November 28, 2008 they took her to the doctor where it was confirmed that she was eight months pregnant.
The complainant then related what had transpired with Williams. A report was made and he was arrested.
