The Buxton Carl Hooper Cricket Club is holding an Inter-Block cricket competition to raise funds for the participation of the club’s under-15, 17 and 19 teams in the East Coast cricket competitions.
The competition is scheduled to commence today and teams must pay $1,500 to enter the tournament.
The Inter-block cricket competition is an opportunity for the villagers and cricketers from Buxton to support a worthy cause and help in ensuring that the youth cricketers get an opportunity to show their skills as cricketers in the East Coast competitions.
Off-spinning all-rounder Clive Andries, who is now also a National footballer, was the player from Buxton to represent Guyana in cricket and the versatile young man, who is also outstanding academically, is an example that anyone willing to work hard can achieve success once they work hard, show commitment and are given opportunities.
The President of the Buxton Carl Hooper Cricket Club Esse Peters told Kaieteur Sports that the Club is still seeking sponsorship for the competition and thanked all those who in any way supported the club over the years.
Interested persons are asked to contact Peters on telephone number 220-9897 for more information. (Sean Devers)
