Juditha DaCosta, a member of the Avon Community Help Fund, has as her main objective, sharing the knowledge of Breast Cancer to everyone.
She is keen to enlighten citizens of ways in which they can understand to check for and deal with Breast Cancer.
There are to be outreach programmes and symposium at the Pegasus.
“We have a richly coloured material on Camp Street wrapped around the trees. It reads, ‘Early detection helps save lives’”. This would remind persons of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“All over the world, Avon contributes a lot by helping to find a cure for Breast Cancer and we assist survivors in anyway we can,” said DaCosta.
This week of activities started last Sunday with prayers at Peter’s Hall Masjid. Tghere were presentations by Dr. Krisnadat from the Ministry of Health and Nurse Benny from the Beacon Foundation, which is a group of people who care for terminally ill patients.
“Last October the pink ribbon was given to the Christ Church Secondary School to show support for Breast Cancer,” said DaCosta
The pink hand band was launched for this year. When anyone wears the band it should be done with pride. The band is engraved with two sentences stating; ‘Early detection saves lives’ and ‘Give and it will come back to you.’
Tomorrow has been designated Wear Pink Day and anyone in the country can wear anything pink to show support for Breast Cancer patients, according to Ms DaCosta.
On Saturday there will be an assembly at Parade Ground at Middle Street at 6:00hrs for the start of a Breast Cancer Awareness walk.
