Riddim Squad moved one step closer to winning the inaugural Western Union Sponsored Georgetown Football Association division-one title with a solid 3-1 win over Uprising in the feature game of a double header on Sunday afternoon at the Camptown ground, Campbellville.
With the win, Riddim squad not only maintained their unbeaten run but also strengthens their chances for qualification to the Premier League ranks in the city.
Also inching closer towards similar qualification were former Premier League side Santos, who rolled over Houston Stars 3-0.
Riddim Squad actually achieved their win coming from a goal down against Uprising who took the lead through an Omali Nassy 30th minute strike. Riddim Squad neutralized that advantage when Sceyon Hope rocked the nets in the 45th minute.
Sheldon Hope handed Riddim Squad the lead in the 60th minute with the sealer coming off the boot of Amos Ramsay in the 81st minute.
With the win, Riddim squad now move to 27 points. Each team bringing forward their points from the first round into the Super Four round which will see the teams playing each other to arrive at the first to fourth placed teams.
Santos’ 3-0 win over Houston Stars ensured that hold on to the second spot having moved to 22 points.
Their win was engineered by goals from Joseph Payne, Jamal Downel and Leron Charles.
Super-four action will continue on Sunday at the same venue with two more matches.
