The police are still investigating the circumstances under which 23-year-old Muhammad Hussain met his death.
The Alberttown resident was found floating in a manhole east of the Guyana Revenue Authority License Office last Monday.
According to police sources, they are at present following some leads which could possibly lead to an arrest.
The source went on to say that they are trying to ascertain if Muhammad’s murder and his best friend’s murder are linked.
The friend, Deonarine Kumar, also known as Ryan, had disappeared from his Leonora Home last May.
His partly nude and decomposing body was found at the back of the Crane rice fields. According to his mother, Shamdai Surijbali, the post mortem had revealed that he died from drowning. Relatives had recalled seeing Hussain on Friday night about 21:30hrs.
The dead man’s brother, Munsehwar Narine, was reading the daily newspaper when he recognised the body floating in the manhole.
The family believes that if the two mounted bicycles which went missing along with Hussain were found they could lead to the murderers.
