The audition for Guyana’s first ever Comedy Jam has been completed with 32 persons bidding to remain in the upcoming show.
According to organizers, on Saturday at the Theater Guild, almost 95% of those who auditioned will remain.
The performances so far were pleasing, according to the Executive Producer of the Mori J’von Comedy Jam, Olive Gopaul-Morrison.
Training and rehearsals are expected to begin immediately since the show is scheduled for next month.
The show which will be officially launched on November 7 will be dedicated to Habeeb Khan who will be bestowed with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to comedy and other forms of entertainment in Guyana and the Caribbean.
Season 1 of the show debuts on November 28 at the National Cultural Centre and will be preceded by a cocktail.
On-the-ground training will also be done for the new talents. The show, according to Morrison, will be done in a three-month seasonal segment so as to ensure continuous participation and employment for young Guyanese. Producers are working on making the show a Caribbean feature.
