The decomposing body of a man who was described as an alcoholic was found early yesterday morning in a house at Newtown, Enmore, East Coast Demerara.
The man was identified as 59-year-old Bissoon Sukhoo, called ‘Mohan’ was discovered by police ranks that were summoned to the area by residents who said that a pungent stench was coming from the man’s home.
Neighbours later said that they last saw ‘Mohan’ on Tuesday.
After not seeing him around for a few days they became concerned. One neighbour also claimed to have heard him groaning in his house on Monday night but took it for nothing since they claimed that groaning was a norm once he consumed alcohol.
However the neighbours decided to call the police early yesterday morning to check the house.
When police arrived and they searched the one flat house the man’s body was found.
According to a police source the man’s body bore no visible marks of violence. Undertakers were summoned to the area and the body removed.
The man lived at the house alone and was a known alcoholic.
