Bishun (100*), Sattaur (94) impress in E/Coast President’s Cup

Yogeshwar Bishun (100*) and national under-15 left-hander Brian Sattaur (94) were the stand out performers in last weekend’s East Coast Board President’s Cup 40 overs round-robin cricket competition.
On Saturday at LBI, Lusignan ‘A’ posted 304-7 against LBI ‘B’ thanks to brilliant batting from Brian Sattaur 94, Surajpaul Deosarran 67 and Somnauth Bharrat 64.
Bowling for LBI, Jamsheer Khan and Randy Ramjit grabbed 2 wickets each.
LBI in reply were bowled out for 123 with contributions from veteran Raymond Karim 50 and Randy Ramjit 42 not out. Danny Sukhram took 3wickets while Surajpaul Deosarran had 2.
At Rockaway, LBI ‘B’ posted 275 with contributions from Khemraj Jaikarran 52, Virjanand Singh 39 and Javed Campbell 31 not out. Bowling for Rockaway Devindra Deonarine and Calvin Sukhraj captured 3 wickets for Rockaway who were bowled out for 141 with Calvin Sukhraj making 52. Indrajit Singh was the main destroyer with 4 for 10 and Javed Campbell and Virjanand Singh captured 2 wickets each.
On Sunday, host LBI reached 264-6 after being in early trouble at 25-3. Yogeshwar Bishun (100 not out) joined forces with Parmanand Rampersaud (50) to dig their team out of trouble with a 102-run partnership before Rampersaud was stumped. Bishun then featured in a 95-run partnership with Nizam Khan (50) before Khan was stumped.
Devon Thomas and Eon Thomas were the successful bowlers for Gas X1 with 2 wickets a piece. Gas X1 in reply were in trouble at 75-8 in the 20th over when rain stopped play. Anand Persaud contributed 46 while Virjanand Singh was the main destroyer with 4-12 while he was well supported by Nizam Khan who took 3-8.
