The middleweight elimination bout between Raul Frank and Andrew ‘Sixhead’ Lewis, initially scheduled for this month end has suffered a further setback following an injury incurred by Frank during training sessions at the Jackie Gleason’s gym, Brooklyn USA, recently.
Promoter and head of McNeal Enterprises, Odinga Lumumba told Kaieteur Sport that Frank has recently telephoned to inform him of this new development. He said that the new date has been tentatively fixed for November month end. Odinga also said that he is currently negotiating with two top female boxers from Trinidad and Tobago with an aim of them comprising a part of the card.
The experienced promoter also disclosed that he is negotiating with former light/middleweight champion ‘Deadly’ Denny Dalton for a fight on the card. Added to that, Lumumba said that he has written to the Ministry of Sports for the rental of the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) but is still awaiting a response.
Frank and Lewis had earlier signed contracts to engage in an elimination bout for Howard ‘Battersea Bomber’ Eastman’s middleweight crown. Frank has since departed Guyana to commence training for the bout while Lewis has opened camp at the gym named in his honour in Albouystown.
Both fighters have exuded confidence at winning the bout but to date are still to face off. (Michael Benjamin)
