Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) is celebrating National Quality Week that coincides with World Standards Day, which is commemorated annually on October 14, and part of a week’s celebration. The theme chosen is “Tackling Climate Change through standards.”
An award ceremony for standard compliant companies was held yesterday at GNBS in the Sophia Exhibition Site, 23 certificates were awarded to companies, Labs and Jewellers’.
The recipients were Caricom Rice Mills Limited, Aeronautical Engineering School, Edward Beharry and Company, Guyana Sugar Corporation, National Milling Company, Demerara Oxygen Company Limited, Demerara Distillers Limited, Banks DIH Limited, ‘Eureka’ Medical Laboratory, Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital, Woodlands Hospital, Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital, Prasad’s Hospital, Sigma Labs, Kings Jewellery World, Steve’s Jewellery, Jewellery By Niko’s, Guyana Thermoplastics Limited, Plastic Products Limited, Gafoors and Toolsie Persaud Limited.
According to the Executive Director of GNBS, Dr. Chatterpaul Ramcharran, we want all entities to be standardized within the public and private sectors with certification so that shipments can be recognized as meeting International Standards.
The three pillars for this are Standardisation, Conformity assessment along with Legal and Industrial Metrology.
We are trying to promote Standardisation so products can comply with international norms and Standards.
