A Crane, West Coast Demerara, man was beaten and relieved of his car after he picked up a woman and her two male companions on Sunday night.
The victim, Osapho Nurse, was lured to ‘B’ Field, Sophia, where one of the gang members struck Nurse on the head before driving off with his silver-grey car, PKK7665.
Nurse told Kaieteur News that he was driving near Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara on Sunday night when a man flagged him down.
He said that the man, who was accompanied by another male and a woman, requested that Nurse take them to the West Ruimveldt ‘Back Road.’
According to Nurse, the man appeared to know him, so he agreed.
But on arriving at West Ruimveldt, the passengers then indicated that they wanted to go to ‘B’ Field, Sophia to pick up another female.
Nurse said that the passenger in the front seat left for a few minutes and when he returned, he asked Nurse to wait for a few minutes longer since the ‘woman’ was not ready.
The man in the back seat then disembarked, and Nurse said he was talking to the front seat passenger when he got a “sudden lash” to the right side of his face.
The men then ordered him out of the car,
and after he had disembarked, drove off with their female accomplice.
Nurse said that he managed to stop a taxi and asked the driver to pursue the fleeing carjackers, who were heading to Georgetown.
However, the carjackers managed to escape.
Nurse made a report at the Prashad Nagar Police Outpost.
He is to offer a reward for the recovery of his vehicle.
